Lobsters May Hold Paralysis Cure

A new treatment based on the shells of sea creatures like lobsters may offer fresh hope to paralyzed and brain-damaged patients.

US researchers have found that a simple sugar found in crustacean shells appears to be able to cure damaged spinal chords, reports The Daily Express .

Professor Richard Borgens, director of the Centre for Paralysis Research in Indiana, which is pioneering the new treatment, said: “This is the most exciting development for spinal cord and brain injury since Second World War.

I am very excited. Using chemicals to repair the damaged nervous system is a completely new way to treat people with these terrible injuries. It’s amazing one of these special chemicals would turn out to be a sugar.”

In the treatment, the sugar, mixed with sterile water, is injected into the bloodstream and then migrates to the spinal cord injury where it plugs holes in the coating of the nerve cells.

Borgens added: “Science has moved in a new direction. Previously we have been looking at drugs which would potentially reduce damage. Now we are looking at complete repair.”

The treatment, successfully used in guinea pigs, will also work in human trials, says the expert.

“The spinal cord of a guinea pig is very similar to that of a human – it is just smaller,” he said.

“This is not like a drug which may work in some species and not in others. This is a mechanical effect. The sugar molecules migrate to the nerve injury target and repair the injured area, not the undamaged area.”

The discovery, published in The Journal of Experimental Biology , was made by Youngman Cho, a chemist in his team.

Running Nose

What happened?

Cought cold, nose is running. No need to get worried.

There is a simple remedy to get rid of that running nose. Just follow these instructions, which are cool, handy and really so simple that it can be followed at any point of time in the day.

Do's

Take some vicks and put it in hot water.
Cover the vessel with evaporating water(vicks) with a piece of cloth with your face covering into it.
Take some deep breaths for about 5 mins, and you are done.
Always use a clean cloth to wipe your nose.

Dont's

Don't sit direct under the fan, after taking the vapors.
Don't drink chilled water, unless and until you are recovered.
Avoid going in the polluted or dusty areas, or cover your nose with clean piece of cloth.
Don't rub your nose because of the itching sensation caused due to cold.

Eye Care

Eyes are the most important of the human body. But at times we ignore and take it lightly when it comes to the eye protection and taking care of. In this post I want to list some of the measures which should be taken in order to keep your eyes safe, from those harmful radiations and pollution.

When you get up!


Wash your eyes gently with cold water. Cold Water soothes eyes and maintains the moisture of the eyes, thus keep them healthy and safe. Isn't it too simple just to wash your eyes with cold water???

Always do remember to wash your eyes 4-5 times a day!

When at work!

Be careful when you are at work, i.e., at office in front of your system. Computer system emits harmful radiations, which takes away the moistness of eyes and thus making them dry. This is too dangerous for eyes and leads to irritation, or in extreme cases loss of vision.

Always make it a point to not focus directly into the monitor for more than 20 minutes. Now that doesn't mean that you should stop doing work, the bottom line here is not to look continuously for 20 minutes. Just try to move your eyes after every 20 minutes.

This is too simple and you don't have to get up from your place after every half an hour or so; rather try to look at a far off point concentrate for a minute and you are done.

While driving!

Wear glasses while driving a 2-wheeler. It protects your eyes from dust and pollution.

Always remember to wash your eyes only with cold water, before going to bed. It's good if you have some natural eye drops or rose water to put regularly before sleeping.

Water Water Water

75% of the body content consists of water. That is why water is the most important content of the balanced diet and a healthy living.

On an average a normal/healthy person should drink 3-5 liters a day of water. Now drinking water does not means that you are not able to drink that amount of water the whole day and suddenly you decide that you should drink 2 liters at night.

That's weird and all false. You should manage to drink water at a proper rate the whole day, with that amount getting into your body; not at the same time you decide to fullfill that content. If later is the case, then you will fear some health hazards.

So in order to have proper amount of water, drink the whole day. Another thing which should be remembered is try to have liquid diet as well including water. One thing which should be clear is, that 3-5 liters is considered collectively, if you are having liquid diet as well.

So, drink juice, have liquid diet, and the essential part take WATER. Enjoy Healthy and Excellent Health.

Daily Routine

A daily routine for a 30mins for your-self creates magic. A proper/regular schedule is very important for the body and makes you fit for the entire day.

We start of with the Morning, with a walk of half - an hour. Even if you cannot do some workout for yourself, a 30mins walk would do it for you. It's important as well as necessary.

After the walk/workout, follow the following

Dont's after morning walk/workout
  • Do not sit as soon as your walk is over.
  • Do not drink water, give at least a gap of 20 mins.
  • Do try to relax yourself, soon by sleeping.

Do's after morning walk/workout

  • Drink/eat only after another 30mins.
  • Relax your body by doing some normal work.

Once back to normal, have a nutricious b'fast, including some sprouts, milk, juice; just remember your entire day depends on your breakfast, so it has to be nutritious and sufficient. Then follow your meals(lunch and dinner - which I will discuss in balance diet). A 10-15 minutes walk after dinner is beneficial.

The Importance of Morning Walk

"A Healthy Mind Resides In A Healthy Body"
- that's a nice saying to start of this post with. If you stay fit, you will be able to do the impossible things in your day to day routine also. So, why not to start from the very beginning, i.e., the time when you get up.

Yaaaaaaa! I meant morning, when there is a beautiful SUNRISE, with cold wind blowing. That part of the world is totally amazing, and beautiful. So, why not to take advantage of the nature and gain sound health and peace through out the day.

MORNING WALK, is the best medicine for your body. A 30 minutes walk can lead you to stay young for your life, with all that charm in you.

If you can jog around for a bit then it's fabulous and will add more feathers to your charm. At least 30 mins of walk in a day leads a doctor away. And that is well said and proved(I am not going to mention the proof here, just kidding), but it helps to maintain the metabolic rate of the body, with the blood pressure level coming to normal for the patients, and a sense of comfortability.

If you have a very busy schedule and cannot give time for workouts. then definitely you need to go for a morning walk, and stay healthy.

Facial Skin Care

Face, a persons identification. A beautiful face with the clean and smooth skin speaks for itself. But, what if there is no charm or light in the face. I am going to tell about some basic things to be done regularly to clean the face and to get that glowing charm.

Ingredients

  • Face Wash
  • Cleansing Milk
  • 2 tablespoon Rose Water
  • Cotton
  • Luke Warm Water

Instructions

Wash your face with luke warm water, with face wash. After washing soak the water with the tissue paper and then take some cleansing milk on cotton. Apply it from chin towards cheeks, i.e., in the upward fashion. Cleansing milk cleanses the face and removes the dirt from the pores of the skin and helps to remove the dead cells on the face which causes black heads.

Wash again with luke warm water. Now take some rose water and just apply it on the face properly. Rose water acts as a cooling agent and provides, conditioning for the skin.

Curing Dry Cough

Coooooooooooooough?

Ofcourse, nobody like coughing. But a person becomes helpless if that happens. There is a small basic home made remedy to cure that dry cough and smoothen the throat again.

Ingredients
  • 2 table spoons Honey.
  • 5 Pepper Balls
  • 5 Tulsi Leaves
Instructions

Take two table spoons honey, put it in a bowl; crush the 5 pepper balls and mix it up with the honey in the bowl. Take it twice a day, in morning and before going to bed. That dry cough will go within 3 days.

There is another alternative also, take 5 tulsi leaves and wash them properly. As soon as you get up in the morning, before having anything, take those 5 leaves and 5 pepper balls, and eat it.

Do this for continuously for a week, and you will get relieved from the cough and cold.

If you are unable to do that then no worries, there is another remedy to cure your cough and cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 Spoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Glass of hot Millk
Instructions

Take 1 spoon turmeric powder and mix it with warm milk. Drink that milk while going to bed. And you will find yourself fit and fine the next morning.

Lip Care

Lip Care Tips

Those beautiful pink lips are always the center of attraction. Lips are the most delicate part of humans body, and require proper nourishing. We take care of our entire body, but sometimes ignore when it comes to lips. Beautiful pink lips adds charmz to the face value.

But when due to weather conditions and other things, lips become cracked and it's difficult to smile also. So how to overcome the crackles and make the lips smooth, and pink. Here we can do the following things in order to make the lips smooth. But first thing before doing any thing, is to wash your face properly with a face wash and luke-warm water.

Ingredients

~ 1/4th Spoon Cream
~ 1 Spoon Rose Water

Instructions

Take 1/4th spoon cream, and mix it properly with 1 spoon of rose water. Mix it thoroughly, and apply before sleeping on to your lips. Do it daily while going to bed.

Another, remedy is to take glycerin with lemon and apply it to the cracked lips, it will create some sensation but lips will become smooth.

Ingredients

~ 1 Spoon Glycerin
~ 1 Spoon Lemon Juice

Instructions

Mix 1 spoon glycerin with 1 spoon of lemon juice, and apply it over the cracked portion of the lips. It will cause some sensation, but no worries, it's only because of lemon. Apply it daily for a week and see the difference.

The above things are time consuming, but it there is no compromise with that beautiful face with lovely strawberry lips. There are a other things also, which are handy and could be used.
